Family Medicine

Family medicine is more than just basic healthcare. It’s a primary care specialty based on the continual relationship between families and patients over time and generations.

The University Health Partners of Hawaii (UHP) and John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) have been treating thousands of patients for decades through this practice.

Family Medicine provides continuing, comprehensive health care for individuals and family members of all ages.

Since the physicians can follow and treat a person throughout their entire life, they typically develop lasting relationships and hold a high degree of specific patient health knowledge. Family Medicine physicians treat certain acute situations, help manage chronic conditions (such as heart disease, diabetes and arthritis) and provide regular check-ups and screenings.  We also place a particularly strong emphasis on prevention and keeping patients well so they can enjoy life.

We are the faculty practice of the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine.
