Internal Medicine

Ever wonder what an internal medicine doctor does?

Dr. Elizabeth Tam, chair of medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), joined host Kanoe Gibson on set to talk about the broad range of primary care services this type of physician provides.

Internal Medicine Physicians specialize in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment specific to adult diseases. Our doctors also practice general medicine and see people for routine check-ups or non-emergency medical care. You can think of us like adult pediatricians – caring and specializing in the care of men and women who could be anywhere from age 18 to 120.

We are the faculty practice of the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine.
