January 7, 2017 — Faculty members of the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Department of Surgery have opened a new clinic and are inviting new patients and referrals. The clinic is located at The Queen’s Medical Center Physician Office Building II, suite 207. The surgery clinic is operated by University Health Partners of Hawaiʻi (UHP), a practice plan made up of faculty of the University of Hawaiʻi who are also health providers.

The clinic provides care for patients in the preoperative, operative and postoperative period for wide variety of minor and complex problems focusing on advance laproscopy, GERD (acid reflux), hernias, complex hernias, biliary diseases including gallbladder and pancreas, thyroid and parathyroid, endocrine tumors, colorectal diseases, colorectal cancer, gastrointestinal tumors, breast diseases and skin lesions.

Dr. Kenric Murayama, a surgeon who earned a national reputation of excellence while practicing in Pennsylvania, returned to his alma mater, JABSOM, in 2015. He leads an energetic team of surgeons with diverse practice experience at the new clinic. They include:

About the JABSOM Surgery Department:
The Surgery Department at JABSOM is headquartered on-site at The Queen’s Medical Center, one of JABSOM’s community-based academic health centers. The surgery faculty includes 50 academic faculty and over 250 appointed private surgical attending physicians. In addition to the Directors of Surgical Education, there are division chiefs for anesthesiology, ENT, emergency medicine, hyperbaric medicine, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, radiology, SICU education, surgical research, thoracic, transplant, trauma, urology, ultrasound and vascular surgery. Other academic training partners include Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, Kuakini Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and the Tripler and VA Health Systems.
