Native Hawaiian Health: (808) 469-4380
The Department of Native Hawaiian Health (DNHH) was the fruition of a vision of NH and medical school leaders in the late 1990’s. In 2002, Dr. Ed Cadman, then Dean of JABSOM, established Native Hawaiian Health (NHH) as an academic and medical program at the University of Hawai‘i’s John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM).
Native Hawaiian Health physicians are focused on developing comprehensive programs that address the healthcare needs of Native Hawaiians. Since there are many health disparities that are disproportionally affecting the Native Hawaiian population and other Pacific-based populations, we actively conduct hypothesis driven research, develop pilot studies, train new researchers and communicate with Native Hawaiian communities to disseminate research information.
